Job
Purpose
These
positions are responsible for serving both internal and external customers by
performing a variety of laboratory procedures in accordance with Ridgeview
Medical Center philosophy, policies, and procedures and in accordance with all
regulatory agencies. Focus areas include: Pathology with emphasis on Cytology
techniques.
Job
Functions
1.
Performs proper specimen collection,
testing and reporting of highly complex laboratory tests.
2.
Screens and evaluates any
gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimen sent to the laboratory for the
determination of possible malignant or related abnormal conditions.
3.
Participates and assists in cytology
preparation, off-site fine needle aspirations and molecular diagnostic testing
back-up when applicable including EUS and EBUS specimens.
4.
Evaluates and implements test
methodology and instrumentation and ensures compliance with the standards of
accrediting and regulatory agencies.
5.
Designs, monitors and directs staff
in quality assurance systems including quality control and proficiency testing.
6.
Performs a variety of qualitative
and quantitative laboratory test, both manual and automated to be utilized in
the diagnosis and treatment of pathological disease.
7.
Performs timely and accurate
clinical lab reports and quality control measures of laboratory
equipment. Troubleshoots and performs corrective action on
instrumentation.
8.
Assists with development and
maintenance of procedures and workflow and inventories.
9.
Assists with the training and
orientation of new staff and visiting students.
10.
Evaluates new products and instrumentation
as directed.
11.
Acts as a technical resource for
Laboratory/Nursing personnel and Providers: presents technical information to
Laboratory personnel; discuss test results with Providers as requested.
12.
Other duties as assigned
Minimum
Education/Work Experience

Bachelor's degree in Medical
Technology or Cytotechnology
·
ASCP Certification CT (ASCP)
Preferred
Qualifications
·
3+ years of full time
cytotechnologist experience the preceding 10-years
